GT Sport: You Can Play The Offline Campaign, Finally, But it Will Remain a Game Focused on Online

On November 27 will come version 1.06 of ‘Gran Turismo Sport’, which is an absolutely necessary change: after the update, Campaign modes, Landscapes and the Design Editor will be available offline. Yes, Polyphony Digital indicates that to keep the progress we make will require an internet connection.

That means – in theory – that the experience, mileage or other advances we make during these modes will not add to our pilot profile, which serves to unlock vehicles or make matches online. And speaking of new cars cars, even after the update we can only access dealerships if we are connected.

It is interesting to consider a series of factors: until now Arcade mode was the only offline mode available. This arcade includes unique races, time trial or personalized among other options. But also the Virtual Reality mode or the local multiplayer.

Surprisingly, until the update will not be possible to access the campaign mode, where we find the Driving School (the classic licenses of the series) and a series of challenges that will sharpen our skills behind the wheel. But we can not test ways in which it is not necessary to drive like the Photo Editor or the vehicle editor. That’s right: good is what ends well.

As indicated by its own name, the star mode of ‘Gran Turismo Sport’ is the Sport mode, one that seeks to offer a competitive online experience, so that all our advances in the game end up reflected in a pilot profile on which the new proposal of Yamauchi and his team is sustained.

Fortunately, the game starts to open a little more in other directions. and proof of this is the GT League mode, which will arrive next month, offering a classic experience for a player.

Let’s talk about GT League and the news

With the update (free) of December comes the GT League mode, which will be a return to the roots of the saga ‘Gran Turismo’. The idea is to run in glasses as iconic as the Sunday Cup or the Clubman Cup with categories ranging from beginner to professional. And yes, the intense endurance races come back.

However, this update is much more than the ability to access these modes. The first batch of free cars will start arriving: from next Monday, November 27, we will have at our disposal:

  • IsoRivolta Zagato VGT (Gr. X)
