We leave behind a year that has seated Nintendo beautifully. Of course, it is not a fashion or coincidence: the Great N has put a lot of care into everything it has launched, making the weight of its licenses end up completing a winning formula. The result? Seven of the ten best-selling games on Amazon.com during 2017 are from Nintendo.
The portal Amazon.com has broken down its top annual sales in a matter of video games and, while the best-selling items have been cards for PlayStation Network, in a matter of games the titles starring Mario and Link have been the most demanded by the users of the online store, being ‘Super Mario Odyssey’ the best-selling title of the year.
A list that does not forget ‘Horizon Zero Dawn’ and the desktop versions of the last ‘Call of Duty’ and in which the inklings of ‘Splatoon 2’ and the incombustible Pokémon have been imposed with enough slack in a list that, Interestingly, it ends with a Wii U game: the disk version of ‘The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’
Next, the list of the 10 best-selling games on Amazon.com in 2017
- Super Mario Odyssey
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Switch)
- Horizon Zero Dawn
- Call of Duty: WWII (PS4)
- Call of Duty: WWII (Xbox One)
- Splatoon 2
- Ultra Sun Pokemon
- Pokemon Ultra Luna
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Wii U)
It is interesting to take into account two added factors: the main thing is that there is a store located in Spain adapted to the prices and taxes of our country, but the portal Amazon.com sends globally with their corresponding additional shipping costs, of course. In fact, Switch is Nintendo’s first console to dispense with the regional blockade, a decision that facilitates international shipments.
What’s more, in the ranking of the 20 articles related to the videogame department, we find the Nintendo Switch console, and it does so twice with the Joy Con gray and Blue and Neon Red pack. Interestingly, the list of games and consoles is not too different from what can currently be found on the online store’s wish lists.
The two clear conclusions is that, on the one hand, the tande of Mario and Switch has been the most sold in the largest online store in terms of games and hardware, although the digital market is becoming increasingly prominent -even on Amazon-, seeing how the PSN prepaid cards have occupied four of the five best-selling items this year, including the first two positions.
